Late Show host calls infidelity 'stupid behavior'

(Newser) – David Letterman is dead set on repairing his marriage after the infidelity that led to an extortion attempt last year, People reports. Appearing on Live! With Regis and Kelly, Letterman likened the events of last year to "an explosion," saying, "You're looking at the shards and you say, 'Well, can we put this back together?' And by God, maybe you can put it back together. And maybe it won't be the same, but maybe it will be different, and maybe it can even be better in a different way."

Letterman also engaged in one of his favorite pastimes: making fun of Jay Leno. He started with a compliment, notes New York, reminiscing about the early days of their careers, when Leno was "the guy everybody looked up to, everybody emulated." He then called his longtime rival "a bit of a knockwurst" and offered an uncanny impersonation.

It's like a usual daily news already, one cheating story here and another cheating scandal there. It's like a trend these days. The first batch are like revealed by their mistresses or other lovers - then now they are the one's opening it on public and confessing their love affairs. Recently the one who came out to People Magazine was David Borneaz cheating. He said he bravely confessed it before someone blackmailing him would spill it out, which will be more scandalous. For sure his wife Jaime Bergman is hurt but we'll see if they could really patch things up - after his mistress be revealed.

I think Letterman is funny but admit it's creepy to have sex with your employees.

If you think Leno is funny, I can just imagine what sort of other specious television shows you are forcing upon your unwilling family members. Letterman is much smarter, funnier, and more substantive than Jay Leno, a man who tells only about one authentic joke a show. Jay cannot improvise, cannot comment meaningfully on any news story, and cannot surprise a viewer even once. By contrast, Letterman is an edgy and provocative thinker who, with his authentic, quirky and sometimes cerebral humor, delights and surprises every evening.
