(Newser) – Wedding bells will ring for two of the three American hikers held in Iran, report the couple's moms—just as soon as Iran sets them free. Shane Bauer fashioned a ring from pieces of his shirt and proposed to Sarah Shourd in the Iranian prison where they've been held since July, the moms told Good Morning America. Fellow hiker and prisoner Josh Fattal will be best man, reports the AP.

"They have been in love for a long time. This was going on and they asked Cindy and I if it was okay if they got married, and of course it is okay. We are happy to be families together," said Nora Shourd. "They are going to get married as soon as they have their freedom."

Yawn... so now people become famous and newsworthy just by being dumb enough to go wandering around and get caught in a country where people hate them? Well they're obviously suited to one another on a 'smart' level - I just hope their kids have a better sense of direction when they grow up!

How romantic! Anything to get through a very difficult time. When will they let these people go?
