(Newser) – The Giants overcame a fourth-quarter deficit and their own wildly uneven play to beat the Jets for four years of bragging rights in New York. Brooding, Brobdingnagian Plaxico Burress put his team ahead for good with a 53-yard touchdown catch-and-run, highlighted by a ferocious stiff-arm on Jets corner Andre Dyson, the New York Times reports.

Giant breakdowns in all phases allowed the Jets to take the lead in the first half; they scored on defense, offense, and special teams. The game momentum shifted at halftime with the return from team suspension of cornerback Aaron Ross. He intercepted two Pennington passes, returning one for a touchdown with three minutes left. “It makes you sick to your stomach,” was Pennington's reaction.
