(Newser) – Pakistan has arrested an American citizen who says he was on a mission to claim Osama bin Laden's head. Gary Brooks Faulkner, a 52-year-old construction worker from California, was found in a forest near the Afghanistan border with a pistol, a dagger, and a 40-inch sword, as well as Christian literature, the AP reports.

A police spokesman said that when asked why he thought he would be able to track down the al-Qaeda leader, Faulkner responded "God is with me, and I am confident I will be successful in killing him." Faulkner, like many foreigners visiting remote areas of Pakistan, was assigned a police minder when he arrived in the Chitral region. Police began searching for him after he gave the minder the slip and vanished into a wooded area.
