Buggy-Driving Amish Teen Tries to Flee Police Levi Detweiler's parents probably not too happy By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Jul 21, 2010 5:27 AM CDT Updated Jul 21, 2010 8:09 AM CDT 32 comments Comments In this April 17, 2009 photo, a buggy travels past a plant in Nappanee, Ind. (AP Photo/Joe Raymond) (Newser) – In today's Odd Crimes Department, 17-year-old Levi Detweiler was arrested after leading police on a one-mile chase—a very slow mile, we're guessing. The Amish teen was piloting a horse and buggy in Leon, NY, when he allegedly ran a stop sign and then refused to pull over, CBS News reports. He eventually lost control, overturned the buggy, and took off on foot. As if he isn’t already in enough trouble, police say they’ve also charged him with underage possession of alcohol. He's being held in jail.
