The Colorado Avalanche remained undefeated at home with a 5-4 shootout win last night over the Calgary Flames. Colorado recovered from a 4-0 deficit early in the second period after replacing Peter Budaj with Jose Theodore in goal. The Avalanche then scored four in a row and snuffed two Flames power plays to force overtime, reports the Denver Post.
The first two goals of the shootout went to Colorado, and Theodore let one through, but denied his former teammate Alex Tanguay to decide the game. Ryan Smyth, who scored the winning goal, said that his team hadn't expected such a long battle, but added: "You don't want to critique a win. We'll take them any which way right now."
