(Newser) – The fact that Tennessee running back Bryce Brown decided to leave the Volunteers isn't a major shock—he bailed on spring practice, and many assumed he'd jump ship after Lane Kiffin bolted for USC, reports Sporting News. But the way he did it—by sending head coach Derek Dooley a text—is raising a few eyebrows. Especially when you consider that Brown, declared the class of 2009's No. 1 recruit by Rivals.com, can't join a new school's team until he gets a formal release from Tennessee. Click here for Dooley's harsh reaction.

There may be no one group of people in America today more exploited by their employer than college athletes.
