(User Submitted) – Republican congressman Mike Rogers called for the execution of Army analyst Bradley Manning in a radio interview yesterday if investigators find that he leaked classified information to WikiLeaks. "If they don't charge him with treason, they ought to charge him with murder," said Rogers, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee. He said treason in wartime is a capital offense. "I would support it 100%." Read the full article at Yahoo News.

Article 3, section 3 of The Constitution states: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attained. My interpretation is that he fits the bill for that charge. The problem may come in finding 2 witnesses that will flip on the guy. Then again, maybe not. What the man leaked is field reports in various media formats. They are first hand accounts of daily activities given by the men/women who carried them out. The information is classified because of its graphic nature and, like any football team, you don't exactly want the enemy to see your tactics. What he did was wrong. What he did potentially put Allied lives at risk. Potentially. Personally, I don't care what they do to the guy. They can put him on probation or put him in the chair. Doesn't matter one bit to me. the important thing is that he can't/won't do it again and others know they won't get buy with it.

There is no declaration of war in place. He should not be executed. He should be hammered if it pans out that he leaked info to the enemy. Wikileaks is not a foreign enemy or domestic enemy for that matter. Jail him for 10-20 years and call it good. After that, we outta execute our congress, all of them. It makes me wonder though if this Trooper leaked this info as a patriotic duty. We are doing some things overseas that are questionable and supporting people financially who are paying others to kill our troops. Maybe he's just a whistleblower and should get off?
