7.0 Quake Rocks New Zealand
Major structural damage, but few injuries so far

(Newser) – New Zealand was rocked by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake this morning (4:35am Saturday in New Zealand), according to the US Geological Survey. Despite the size, no deaths have been reported so far and only two serious injuries. Officials in Christchurch, New Zealand's second-largest city, report major damage to roads, bridges, and water and sewer systems, MSNBC reports. About 1,000 people in a nearby suburb were ordered to be ready evacuate because of flooding dangers.
