Former deputy mayor, Microsoft execs pay $10 million for franchise

(Newser) - Though the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics could be on the way to Oklahoma City, the WNBA's Storm appears set to remain in the Emerald City thanks to a deal by four local women to buy the women's basketball franchise. The foursome, which includes a pair of Microsoft executives, will pay Sonics owner Clay Bennett $10 million, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. More »

(Newser) - The Seattle SuperSonics’ owner said today he will move the team to Oklahoma City. Clay Bennett isn’t satisfied with the Sonics’ current arena, where the lease expires in 2010; he gave the city a deadline to plan a new stadium, which passed this week. Bennett wants to void the lease’s last two years, and claims the b-ballers lost $17 million last year due to the stadium, the AP reports. More »
