With sales down 17% over last year's holiday, Bangkok needed just $7.8 million to top Tropic Thunder 's $7.5 million. Turner settled a libel lawsuit with Cage, confessing that she’d lied when she wrote that Cage had been “arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, for stealing a dog.” Turner and her co-defendants agreed to pay Cage’s legal fees and make a “substantial” donation to charity.
