As Tigers break the Elite Eight for the third straight year on  the back of a giant first half

(Newser) - The Tigers pounced early and often, and all those flaws critics have been pointing out since the NCAA tourney began were nowhere to be seen, the Commercial Appeal reports. Memphis put on a clinic last night, breaking the game open 50-20 by the end of the first half, en route to a 92-74 demolishing of Michigan State. Spartans shut down Owls' high-scoring Christmas

(Newser) - Michigan State reminded Dionte Christmas he wasn't playing in the Atlantic 10 anymore. The Spartans held Temple's 20.2 a game scorer to three points and beat the Owls 72-61 today in the NCAA Tournament, the Detroit News reports. MSU star Drew Neitzel was shut down the other way, but Raymar Morgan scored 15 points to lead the fifth-seeded Spartans into the second round, where they are 11-2 under coach Tom Izzo. More »

No. 19 Michigan State tops No. 12 IU at home for 14th straight time

(Newser) - Michigan State fans got free tacos and then some, as the Spartans wiped out Indiana 103-74 to finish a perfect 17-0 on their home floor. MSU jumped out to a 28-point halftime lead with 78% shooting, and put it in cruise control through the second half. Raymar Morgan had 20 points, and senior Drew Neitzel had 17 in his final home game as the Spartans celebrated Senior Day, reports AP. More »
