(Newser) - The bounty hunter who confidently posted Casey Anthony's bail because he believed her 3-year-old daughter was alive says he no longer thinks that's the case, reports CBS13. Leonard Padilla touted that he could uncover Caylee's whereabouts in 5 days, but said Casey "didn't talk"; he's considering revoking her bail and sending her back to jail. Paper reveals $1.1B in overtime pay as state debates shortfall

(Newser) - As California kicks off the fiscal year with a $17.2 billion deficit and no budget, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that state workers are raking in big overtime bucks—some as high as six figures. Including a nurse who collected $198,000 and an official who banked $403,000 in overtime, the state paid out more than $1.1 billion in OT payments last year. More »

10 Arrested in Laos Takeover Scheme

Plotters led by former Laotian general and US military officer 

(Newser) - Ten suspects were arrested in six Californian cities today for conspiring to overthrow the government of Laos. The plotters included a former general in the Laotian army and a former US military officer who was a covert operative during the Vietnam War, the AP reports.
