Determined to make the Wizards swallow their words, LeBron James scored 32 points, making two tough shots in traffic down the stretch as the Cleveland Cavaliers opened the NBA playoffs with an intense 93-86 win over Washington today. Called "overrated" by Washington's DeShawn Stevenson, James scored 20 points in the second half to lead the defending Eastern Conference champions.

James, who didn't practice Monday and Tuesday because of back spasms, scored 33 points as the Cavaliers overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat the New Jersey Nets, 104-83. James was 11-of-21 from the field with seven rebounds and eight assists.

Last week's Vogue cover had "a lot of people, smart and dumb, losing their minds," writes Wesley Morris in Slate. Sure, Annie Leibovitz's shot may pander to the "ugliest racist tropes: black male as ape," with LeBron James as King Kong and Gisele Bundchen as the silky-gowned Fay Wray.
