It pays to have a career in medicine. All of the 10 highest-paying jobs in the US are in specialized medical fields, largely focused on surgery, according to new wage estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, per the Hill and Business Insider. Even ophthalmologists, in the No. 10 spot, bring in more than four times the average wage across all occupations ($69,770). The 10 highest-paying jobs, with average annual wages excluding overtime and most bonuses:

  1. Pediatric surgeons - $502,050
  2. Cardiologists - $454,940
  3. Radiologists - $381,530
  4. Orthopedic surgeons - $373,570
  5. Other surgeons - $364,360
  6. Anesthesiologists - $360,570
  7. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons - $346,490
  8. Dermatologists - $323,530
  9. Emergency medicine physicians - $317,480
  10. Ophthalmologists - $304,650
