HP Launches Windows 7 Slate for $800
It's not aimed at casual consumers

(User Submitted) – HP's touchscreen tablet is finally here, but it shares very little in common with Apple's iPad or even the new wave of Android tablets. The HP Slate 500 runs Windows 7, has a 9-inch screen, and is aimed at business and industrial users, rather than mainstream consumers, reports CNET.

The most surprising thing is the lack of any tablet-like software, from an app store to big finger-friendly buttons. All you get is the basic built-in Windows 7 on-screen keyboard. And, unlike the $500 iPad, the HP Slate 500 is $799, although it includes a docking stand and a case. For CNET's review and hands-on video, click here. Two other videos are in the gallery.
