Is the New York Times intentionally sweeping conservative pundits' books under the rug? That's what Dick Morris and Bill O'Reilly alleged last night. “There’s a war going on” between the Times and Fox News, and the Times has "stepped it up," O’Reilly declared last night, in a clip spotted by Mediaite. His beef? In its latest best-seller rankings, the Times has books by Fox contributors Morris, Mike Huckabee, and Frank Luntz on its “Advice and Miscellaneous” list—alongside self-help, dieting, and how-to books—instead of its main nonfiction list.
On USA Today’s comprehensive list, Luntz’s Win comes in at No. 68, well ahead of the No. 3 book on the Times nonfiction list, which comes in at No. 90, the Future of Capitalism blog points out. Morris tells O’Reilly that his publisher complained, only to be told it was simply a revamping of the list, not targeted at any specific book.
