Steel yourself: It looks like you're going to be seeing a lot more of Donald Trump's mug on the Newser grid. He may not be allowed to announce his candidacy until Celebrity Apprentice wraps up in June, but it's sounding more and more like a done deal: The Donald told the Wall Street Journal yesterday that he will "probably" run as an independent if he doesn't get the GOP nom: “I think the Republicans are very concerned that ... if I don’t win [the GOP primary] will I run as an independent, and I think the answer is probably yes."

As for his chances? He "could possibly win as an independent. I’m not doing it for any other reason. I like winning." He also shares some more of his foreign policy brilliance:

  • On Libya: He's "only interested in Libya if we take the oil. I would not leave Iraq and let Iran take over the oil."
  • On China: "I would tell China that you’re either going to shape up, or I’m going to tax you at 25% for all the products you send into this country. "
