Pentagon Renovation Complete After 17 Years

Massive project considered a design coup

(Newser) – Renovation of the Pentagon has been completed, and it took only 17 years. That may sound like forever, but rebuilding the 29-acre site while it was operational is considered a major success, even an inspiration for other federal projects, the Washington Post reports. When renovations began—under the Clinton administration—the defense headquarters had typewriter-level technology and inferior safety precautions, two flaws made even more glaring during the Sept. 11 attacks.

“We took the building apart and put it together again, with 20,000 people sitting in it,” said Lee Evey, project manager. He compared the redesign to talking apart a black-and-white TV, making it color, while still watching shows the whole time. An official ribbon-cutting takes place later this summer. One unfortunate side-effect of such a long-term project? Section that were constructed first require upgrades of fire alarm and electrical systems.

The Pentagon is the focal point of the most dangerous, perverted criminals in the world. A bunch of faceless drones whose sole purpose is to destroy people, governments and things. It is time to smash the military back into a little box and cut their budgets 50%. Close all of the foreign bases. We have 225 military bases in Germany. Fucking Germany. Hey stupid dipshit Generals - WW2 ended in 1945. WTF are we still doing there. End the madness today.

They sucked off that Taxpayer teat until it was dry. renovating a building while in use is not a big deal. You move people out of a section, rewire it and move the next people into that section and start again.  No biggie deal, I see it done all the time. Many times you can rewire at night, you have 17 hours to work. Piece of cake.
