Missing From This Year's MDA Telethon: Jerry Lewis

Comedian no longer national chair, won't appear over Labor Day weekend

(Newser) – It's the end of an era: He's been the Muscular Dystrophy Association's national chairman since the early 1950s and the host of its Labor Day telethon since 1966. But as of this year, Jerry Lewis is neither—and he won't even be appearing on this year's telethon. The comedian announced he was giving up hosting duties in May, but said he'd make his final appearance on the Sept. 4 broadcast and would hang on to his duties as chair, reports the AP. But the nonprofit agency yesterday announced that he "will not be appearing" and has "completed his run" as national chair.

Dean and Jerry are fine, but for me, it's all about Jerry solo 1963-1965. Nutty Professor (1963) is well known, but check out The Patsy (1964), Disorderly Orderly (1964) and especially Family Jewels (1965), in which Jerry plays seven different roles (The seven uncles). Jerry, good health and long life to you. Thanks for the great ride. I hope you've got another film in you, or at least an authorized release of 'The Day The Clown Cried'

Ok, Ok, if it IS time for a biopic "LEWIS" with Jim Carey as you know who, who will play Dino? I'm taking meetings, if YOU have the answer.
