Iran on Brink of Nuclear Capability

IAEA: No weapons yet, but nation 'could move quickly'

(Newser) – Iran now has all the technical know-how needed to make working nuclear weapons—thanks to the technical assistance of scientists from the former Soviet Union, Pakistan, and North Korea, reports the Washington Post. Officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is due to release a report on Iran later this week, say new intelligence documents confirm that Iran continued work on its nuclear weapons program after 2003, and that it has been much more organized and successful than US and other intelligence services previously thought.

“The program never really stopped,” said David Albright, a nuclear weapons expert at the Institute for Science and International Security. US officials say that Iran has not decided whether to make nuclear weapons now, but is determined to have the capability to make them quickly if needed. Iran, for its part, seems unconcerned about the coming report. "Let them publish and see what happens," said Iran’s foreign minister and former nuclear top official. However reports are circulating that Israel, the US, or other countries could be working on more sanctions or military strikes against Iran's program.

I'm all for other countries besides the United States owning and using nuclear-related technologies...they have just as much of a right to do it as we do. However, Iran is an exception to this rule--they are extreme and radical muslims who seem to hate Israel unlike anything I've ever seen. Nuclear weapons in their hands is some scary sh*t. I believe in my heart that if they acquire the technologies needed to produce nuclear weapons on a large scale, they may end up holding the world hostage are some sh*t like that. They may use their new-found technology for generating power...but they'll also use it for weapons as we all know they will. This news troubles me deeply. These camel jockeys could VERY EASILY destroy the entire world as we know it. I am in no way a war-monger; I HATE war and fighting...but if things get out of hand over their in that country, we may have no choice but to stop them by force. God help us all if it ever comes to this, which I pray it doesn't.

We'll get war in Iran with Repubs or current Dems. Both are warhawks.
