(Newser) – The lost-and-found tale of the week: A Florida man accidentally chucked his wife's $10,000 custom-made wedding ring in the trash, then dutifully headed to the county dump to dig in. Workers gave him a protective suit, pointed him in the right direction ... and watched in amazement as the hubby turned up the diamond ring in about 30 minutes, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

"Nastiness you wouldn't believe," recalls the lucky guy. "It was absolutely disgusting. It stunk beyond belief. The smell was God-awful. Everything unsanitary you could think of crossed my path at least a couple times."

Sounds like my kinda guy. Not because he went after it, but that he was able to track it down so quickly. Probably has a good sense of direction too. I can't remember the last time I trusted a significant other enough to nap during a car ride. Most of the time I wake up and we've been lost for the past 2 hours.

If these two aren't together in twenty years, that lady's got some issues. Of course, this depends on the circumstances that led to his throwing away of a 10K wedding ring in the first place...

let this be a lesson, don't buy anything you can't afford to lose....or insure. But kudos to this guy for finding it!
