California Pit Bulls Kill 42 Goats

Pack attacks corralled animals

(Newser) – Three of four pit bulls that slaughtered 42 goats in Southern California have been captured. "It appears that the pack mentality set in," a spokesman for the LA County Department of Animal Care and Control. "They just fed off one another's energy and mischievous behavior." Authorities are still seeking the other dog and the dogs' owners, reports the Los Angeles Times. None of the animals had identifying tags or microchips. The pack entered a corral in Lake Los Angeles with about 50 goats, and killed most of them before they were discovered. "This is tragic and completely avoidable," said an official. "When dogs run at large, particularly in packs, they tend to act up."

Bad dogs.

We need new legislation across the country, and stiffer regulations for people that would like to own pitbulls.   They aren't like 'every other dog' and should require special permits and knowledge to be kept.  Potential owners should also have to demonstrate that the dogs will have appropriate physical barriers to contain them....because they are powerful and escape artists.   I know, I have owned them.

I can't understand why people are even allowed to breed pit-bulls.  They are the single most unpredictable breed of dog.  They can be "nice" right up until they attack you.  I hope they find the owners and give them a big-assed fine for letting them run lose.
