Kyle Williams Gets Twitter Death Threats

Big game miscues lead to angry online backlash

(Newser) – San Francisco fans weren't happy with Kyle Williams last night—and they let him hear it online. After Williams fumbled two punts to essentially cost the 49ers the NFC Championship game, fans lit into him on Twitter, telling him to kill himself and/or "burn in hell," Mashable reports. Perhaps the most ridiculous came from @javpasquel, who tweeted, "@KyleWilliams_10. I hope you, youre(sic) wife, kids and family die, you deserve it."

Of course, Twitter controversies being what they are, @javpasquel himself soon found himself on the receiving end of much ire, with dozens of fans retweeting his post along with incredulous comments. One user even found what looked like his personal email account, and broadcast it to other fans. Today, @javpasquel said that his "account got hacked" and that he "would never say or think anything like that."

Two Shot After 49ers-Raiders Game

(NEWSER) - Wearing a "F*** the 49ers" T-shirt to a 49ers game wasn't the brightest idea, but it could prove deadly for a man shot two to four times in the stomach last night following a preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. The 24-year-old is in critical condition, reports the San Francisco Chronicle . Police detained a 20-something in Raiders attire on a party bus a short time later. A second man was shot in a parking lot; it's unclear if the two shootings were related, though police believe all three men attended the game at Candlestick Park. More»

(NEWSER) - Is Tebow-mania on its knees in Denver? Peyton Manning has told his agent to begin negotiations with the Broncos, sources tell Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN . In a TV appearance, Schefter said Manning "fully intends" to play in Denver, and has already discussed the parameters of a 5-year, $95 million contract with GM John Elway. (NEWSER) - The New England Patriots overcame a 21-point deficit today with 49 unanswered points to rock the Buffalo Bills 49-21, the AP reports. The win earned the Pats home-field advantage and the AFC's top seed. Tom Brady threw for 338 yards and finished with the second-most passing yards in NFL history, 5,235—behind only Drew Brees, who threw for 5,486 this year with the New Orleans Saints. More»
