The Donald tells 'Fox and Friends' he'll take credit for Mitt's victory

(NEWSER) - Mitt Romney easily won in Nevada Saturday—a result he had also achieved in 2008 , and a feat that the polls (and Newt Gingrich ) predicted before Donald Trump endorsed Romney . But never mind all that, Trump is just going to take credit for the victory. (NEWSER) - In the end, the guys in the high-rent district of the 1% stuck together: Donald Trump today said it was "honor and real privilege" to endorse Mitt Romney for president, reports USA Today . "Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. Governor Romney, go out and get em," he said at a Las Vegas news conference. (NEWSER) - Newton Leroy Gingrich got drubbed pretty soundly in Florida, and it'll be nearly a month before the next major primaries. What's an ex-speaker to do? Politico weighs in:

• Have a big idea: Newt's message was all over the place in Florida. "When he wasn’t calling Romney anti-immigrant, he was talking about the moon. When he wasn’t talking about the moon, he was talking about kosher food," says one strategist. Gingrich probably knows he needs to focus; he's promised to release something like his 1994 "Contract With America" soon.

Even though he's 'pro-abortion, pro-gun control, and pro-tax increases'

(NEWSER) - Donald Trump is making noises about a run for the Oval Office again, today telling Face the Nation that "the right independent could win," and that "if I don't see a person that is going to win—that's tantamount—I would certainly think about doing it," but only, of course, "after the show ends. Our country is in a lot of trouble. So I may. I hope I don't have to." Trump noted his previous surge, Politico notes, saying, “If I didn’t have the show, I probably would have maybe just kept going because I was doing well, as you know. I was leading in the polls."
