(Newser) – Google has honored synthesizer pioneer Robert Moog with a doodle fans are calling its best ever. To mark what would have been Moog's 73rd birthday, Google's homepage features a fully playable version of his famous synth, complete with 19 knobs and a recording device. "We had a terrific blueprint," chief doodler Ryan Germick tells Mashable, describing the doodle as Google's most technically ambitious yet. "The synthesizers that Moog made were really works of art in and of themselves." Tips on how to play are available in a Google blog post.

The Google Moog doodle goes live on May 23rd.

I LOVED using that synth! I made a bunch of covers using it and even got featured by WIRED.com! Check out all 10 of them in this blog post. WELL worth the 6 minutes. Over 30,000 views yesterday alone :)   http://www.aaronisles.com/cpt_news/aaron-isles-featured-in-wired-com-and-magic987-com-posts/

I think it's only available in the States, because Google.com redirects to .ca here, and it's just a static image.
