Couple Detained After Torsos Found in Paris Forest

Cops say pair have confessed to killing, dismembering couple

(Newser) – Another gruesome body-parts case, this time in France: Police in Paris say they are questioning a Chinese couple over two headless torsos found in a forest at the edge of the city. After a guide dog found a torso in the Vincennes forest on Friday, the couple turned themselves in and led police to another torso, AFP reports. The pair say they killed another couple, also Chinese, after a dispute over the death of the murdered couple's child, who died while in their care. They said they fled to China after killing and dismembering the couple but returned to France because they were "overcome with remorse."

Returning to Paris because of "feelings of remorse"?  I've done it many, many times...

The remorse story doesn't sound right to me. I can understand IF the child's death was an accident the parents return and are angry with you, a fight breaks out and in the struggle the two parents die. But they went the extra step and dismembered the bodies and transported them into the woods where they hoped the wouldn't be found. They then fled to China. Now why would people who would do that return? Maybe it's because the couple they killed were Chinese nationals and hiding out in China the #1 death penalty country in the world after killing Chinese citizens is a bad idea. Say lets go back to France, turn ourselves in and face a moderate Western prison time in a clean, humane prison rather than the torture gulags of China. Doesn't that make a lot more sense than after they horribly cut up the couple and dumped them and their child into the woods to be fed upon by wild dogs suddenly having an about face of moral enlightenment?
