If Obama Wins, DC Gridlock Will Get Worse

But another columnist sees the threat as more GOP 'hostage-taking'

(Newser) – If you're tired of the last few years of DC gridlock, brace for more if President Obama wins re-election, writes Ramesh Ponnuru at Bloomberg. Republicans probably will still control Congress, and they're bound to react to a Romney loss by shifting more to the right, argues Ponnuru. Neither side will be able to claim a mandate, meaning that the real choice for voters in November is "one between Romney and a unified Republican government, or Obama and four more years that look a lot like the last two."

Expect to hear this argument a lot in the coming months, writes Ed Kilgore at the Washington Monthly, who dismisses it as more GOP "political hostage-taking." It boils down to Republicans saying, "Give us total power to begin implementing our agenda and start dismantling this silly, expensive New Deal/Great Society system and this European-style progressive tax code, or nothing at all happens." Remember, though, that at least one big thing will happen if Obama wins: His health care reform will survive. Besides, gridlock is OK if "one of the two major parties will accept nothing short of total power." Read Kilgore's full column here, and Ponnuru's here.

I believe that if Obama wins another four years, the public will be on board and vote to change the Rep.congress,and senate control. It appears that people have finally realized what filibusters and gridlocks has done for government.

Just more the the fear talk, lies as usual or anything they can come up with as Boner's people don't care about our Country, they only do what the lobbyists that fund them tell them to do and nothing that is in the best interest of the average American people - NO SURPRISE from them, why they even stay up late at night to see who can make up the best NEW LIES or FEAR based crap. That is how Karl (Treason) Rove makes his millions when he should be in Jail!

You can thank Bohner as the head of the fillibuster team. What suprises me is why the people of the different states don't realize Boner's team votes for party and not for who elected them. This is a Country slowing action by the gop in an effort to make our president look bad. Boner's people are unAmerican and should be voted out.
