(Newser) – The Oscars just may be filled with dirty jokes this year, because Family Guy and Ted creator Seth MacFarlane is hosting. "My two thoughts upon hearing the news were, 1) I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors and 2) I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast," joked MacFarlane when the telecast producers made the announcement. The Academy Awards air live on Feb. 24 on ABC, BroadwayWorld.com reports.

I almost always watch the Oscars with a group of friends, and it's always fun. The trick is to play a drinking game with enough rules to get absolutely wasted.

No matter who is hosting, I doubt I'll watch. I got really into the Oscars a couple of years ago, watched most of the movies beforehand, made predictions and calculated my success rate... and it was still so. mindnumbingly. boring. It doesn't matter how much I love movies or who is hosting. The Oscars are too long with too little pay-off.  If anything awesome happens, I'll watch it later on YouTube.
