(AP) – A man who used to own McDonald's restaurants in North Dakota is about $10,000 richer after selling a 20-year-old container of McJordan barbecue sauce to a buyer in Chicago. The sauce was used on McJordan Burgers, a promotional dish named for basketball icon Michael Jordan, sold in limited markets for a short time in the 1990s. Mort Bank saved the gallon jug of sauce after selling his McDonald's restaurants in Bismarck-Mandan and Minot in 1996.

"It was in my basement and I would look at it occasionally," he says. "I thought it would be worth something someday." Bank advertised the sauce on eBay, calling it "A once in a lifetime chance to own the rarest of rare Michael Jordan and McDonald's collectible!" It sold for $9,995 to a buyer from Chicago whom Bank has not identified. "I'm sure he's a Bulls or Michael Jordan fan," Bank says. "Hopefully he's not going to put it on his ribs or his burger."

OMG! Too bad he doesn't realize it's the exact same sauce as the McRib sauce. When they first started this McJordan...the McDonald's SOC said to use the existing Rib Sauce. It was only after it had been out for awhile that they put it in jugs labeled as McJordan Sauce. Even after they quit this burger, we always still made it with the McRib sauce. Worked at McDonalds from age 14-16. Then again at 19 as a crew trainer.

ok, 2 things: 1. Kudos to who ever found the photo of jordan licking his lips to go with this story! b. "Bank said he has at least three storage units full of McDonald's memorabilia and other collector's items that he has been selling on eBay for three years." -You'd think the boys down at McHQ might have something to say about this? Isn't there licensing issues and other legalities? I mean he owned a franchise and must have signed something about restricting private sales of promotional merchandise? Or is it just a free-for-all at those levels, while at the bottom you have to put the pickles on just right or get fired. Jus thinkin out loud
