(Newser) – Marian Hossa scored twice and Johan Hedberg made 37 saves, winning his second straight start as Atlanta beat Buffalo, 5-2 today, reports the Journal-Constitution. Rookie Colin Stuart, recently called up from the minor leagues, added a goal and a lot of energy to the Thrashers' top line while helping extend Buffalo's losing streak to six games.

Stuart "played a heck of a hockey game," said  coach Don Waddell, whose team now trails first-place Carolina by three points in the NHL's Southeast Division. Meantime, Buffalo began a stretch of 11 road games in its next 13 by struggling to score—again. The Sabres were 0-for-5 on the power play against Atlanta's weak penalty killing unit.
