(Newser) – Mark Zuckerberg will host a fundraiser for Chris Christie next month, in perhaps the Facebook founder's most overt display of his political leanings to date. Zuckerberg and Christie apparently hit it off when Zuckerberg donated $100 million to Newark's school system, USA Today reports. "They have maintained a friendship since they met in 2010," Christie's political strategist says. "We are very excited about the trip to California, as it demonstrated just how broad the support is" for Christie.

Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, will host the fundraiser at their home on Feb. 13. Until now, Zuckerberg hasn't overtly endorsed any politicians, mingling with both parties. He once moderated a town hall meeting with President Obama.

I would be very interested to see where Christie stands on the issues, as a left leaning liberal, I am not adverse to Christie and think he would made a good choice to become the face of the GOPers who need a more in touch and up to date candidate.  I vote on the issues and Christie seems to realize that tea party issues are way to extreme for the US.  His ability to compromise in what appears to be serving the interests of the people versus his party makes him extremely likable and I would be more likely to believe his platform than other GOP robots. It would be nice to see all politicians take a note from Christie's playbook.
