Florida Man Stabs Wife —Over a Hamburger
Bartolo Gelsomino   (Miami-Dade Corrections)

Today, in the Really Horrific Motives department: A 78-year-old Florida man murdered his wife of 52 years last Monday because she wouldn't cook him a hamburger, say police. Bartolo Gelsomino then allegedly attempted to make it appear as if his 71-year-old wife was stabbed during a burglary, reports the Miami Herald. But the two possible blood stains spotted on Gelsomino's shirt shifted the spotlight toward him, as did his son's admission to police that Gelsomino "had a history of domestic violence."

Police say Gelsomino confessed to the crime, and led them to the trash can where he had disposed of the kitchen knife and other evidence. He faces second-degree murder charges. NBC Miami reports that the Gelsominos' daughter was the one who found her body; she told CBS4 that she hoped her mother's death will prod others suffering from domestic violence to find help. "That day it was a hamburger, another day it was eggs," she said. "Another day the water was too cold or too hot. It didn’t matter, anything that wasn’t right or didn’t feel right, he used it to control my mother." (More weird crimes stories.)
