(Newser) – Most people with a good buzz on call Domino's for delivery, but one Texas woman thought it would be just hysterical to instead call 911 to have emergency responders deliver cigarettes to her home. For her trouble, 48-year-old Linda White, described as "very intoxicated," did indeed get a visit (from two unamused deputies), an arrest (misdemeanor abuse of 911), and a potential sentence (up to 180 days in jail and a maximum fine of $2,000). No cigarettes.

"We were just kicking it in the back yard—a few beers too many," White tells NBC News. "Next thing you know, we're out of cigarettes. Well, I didn't want to drive to town. ... I was drunk, you know, but in my backyard." So she decided to use logic: "Who's the safest person to call? Your police department, I thought." She was later released from the Hood County jail, reports the AP.

Just think about all the lives she saved by not driving drunk to the store to get some cigs? Smart woman, Id say, but the police didn't look at it from that point of view. They could have delivered her cigs and booze, and charged the yin yang out of her, and that money would have been deposited in the city kitty, and all would have been safe and happy, and go on about their business.

Welcome to 21st century America. Where people too fat, stupid, and lazy to plan ahead think police will deliver their cigs to the trailer court!
