The FBI's "Hottel memo," concerning second-hand reports of a UFO crash in 1950, has proven to be the most popular Bureau file on its public document website.   (Wilbur Allen)

(Newser) – Of the 6,700 documents that the FBI has posted publicly at its Vault since 2011, the most popular of them all is ... a 1950 memo on UFOs, reports Live Science. In the so-called Hottel memo, an agent recounts that someone reported seeing three "flying saucers" that crashed in New Mexico, with three apparent dead aliens in each. The agent didn't seem to take it very seriously, concluding that "no further evaluation was attempted."

The memo has been publicly available since the 1970s, but with the launch of the Vault, the one-page memo went viral and has since then received nearly 1 million hits. The FBI again takes pains to point out "the Hottel memo does not prove the existence of UFOs," in its own writeup on the popularity of the document. "It is simply a second- or third-hand claim that we never investigated," possibly the result of a tall tale floating around at the time. "Sorry, no smoking gun on UFOs."

The government is not going to be able to keep covering up and hiding the truth from the people forever. One day there will be full disclosure....and it will change everything.

It has been estimated that there are probley 100 million earth type planets throughout the milkyway. The odds that one holds life that is more advanced than us has been estimated tobe 100 million times 0.0001 and that comes too 10 thousand such planets. Now if they are more advanced than us, they might know how to 'fold' space and make travel that would take hundreds of years happen in a few. Now as to weither they have visited earth or not, I don't know. Some groups say they have proof and some groups say it's all bs. Others say we are the only ones based on the bible. I say, show me in the bible where life isn't possible on other planets. All I know, is that out of all this space we live in and to say we are alone doesn't make sense. But than again we could be the only ones.

That's why the Army was dispatched to clean up/remove all materials from the crash.
