Scientists Decry Worst Case of Censorship Since Galileo
... and it involves magic mushrooms

(Newser) – It's the kind of claim that makes your ears perk up: A group of scientists yesterday came out swinging against what one described as "the worst case of scientific censorship since the Catholic Church banned the works of Copernicus and Galileo." More colorful still, it involves magic mushrooms. The researchers took to Nature Reviews Neuroscience to argue that 1960s and 1970s drug laws curtailed vital research into the medicinal properties of psychoactive drugs (marijuana, ecstasy, and psychedelics, explains LiveScience). And that, they say, is scientific censorship.

Among the scientists clamoring for "a more rational approach to drug regulation" is David Nutt, a colorful former British drug adviser who has previously argued that alcohol is worse than heroin and cocaine caused the financial crisis. He tells the Independent, "The laws scare off funders and most scientists are scared because they think if they break the law, they might get arrested. I'm sure at some point someone's going to arrest me." Reuters reports that the scientists are asking that psychoactive drugs be granted a research exemption. Doing so would allow "researchers to make advances in the study of consciousness and brain mechanisms of psychosis, and could lead to major treatment innovations in areas such as depression and PTSD," says Nutt.

I have to agree 100%. Cannibis has completely eliminated brain tumors and LSD has cured depression and schizophrenia, to name a few, yet all research on the drug has been prevent by the harsh laws put in place during the drug wars.

Alcohol IS worse then heroin. The withdrawal from alcohol is often life threatening; not so for heroin. Heroin does not hit your judgement and inhibition centers in the same way alcohol does. Heroin addicts tend to be peaceful and sedentary---we all know what happens with lots of drunks... In addition, a little known fact is that heroin and other opiates taken regularly seem to protect against most respiratory viruses, although we do not know why. Shouldn't we be studying that?

P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Among other things, “science” being a pursuit whose devotees and practitioners won't even say the sky is blue unless there is a multi million dollar taxpayer funded “research “project enacted to “verify” it, it has been “scientifically” unproved that killing everyone except one person would produce peace. But few, if any, “scientists” would at least go on the record to recommend and “experiment” demonstrating that. Among other things, note the ghoulish emphasis on testing hard drugs for efficacy to handle afflictions. There are many things that aren't hard, psychoactive drugs that can have the ability to quiet the side effects of illnesses! If “science” is interested in the welfare of the people, where is their insistence on testing these substances? In fact, the welfare of the public is not the impetus for this “research”. “Science” is a tool of the New World Order to impose lies on the gullible and require them to believe. The NWO wants to use “medical” qualities of heroin, crack, meth like they use “medical marijuana”, a Trojan horse, a means of getting the foot in the door of society of illegal drug use, to lead to it being made legal and, finally, mandatory. Just like “rape and incest” were the Trojan horse to make wholesale, on demand abortion legal; “gay marriage” is being used to wedge full acceptance of sexual deviance into regular society; “Newtown” was the Trojan horse to facilitate eliminating gun ownership by the “rank and file”; September 11 was the Trojan horse to initiate the “war on 'terror'”; and “climate change” and “superstorms” are being used to convince the gullible their only hope for safety is living in FEMA concentration camps, never leaving their houses and having supplies provided by the New World Order state to “reduce their carbon footprint”. Yes, “medical” properties of hard, psychoactive drugs is knowledge and there is nothing wrong with knowledge, necessarily, this is a warning such a program will be unethically and unscrupulously managed. “Benefits” of drugs will be overinflated, drawbacks will be withheld and no other substances will be tested!
