(Newser) – James Gandolfini's autopsy was conducted today in Italy, and though no official word has been given, a hospital source tells Reuters it confirmed the actor's cause of death was a heart attack. An Italian official gives the same confirmation to CNN. Doctors will make the official announcement later today, after the US Embassy and Gandolfini's family are officially informed. Meanwhile, both the New York Post and the New York Daily News ran what are purported to be the last photos taken of Gandolfini, dining on Tuesday night in Rome. According to a Post source, his final meal, around 7pm on Wednesday, included at least eight alcoholic beverages: four shots of rum, two piña coladas, and two beers, plus two orders of fried king prawns and a lot of foie gras.

I think that the reported “two orders of fried king prawns and a lot of foie gras” were the coup de grace which laid Golfini low, assisted ably by alcohol consumption. It’s the eating of animal protein, in this case prawns and duck liver, which is the main cause of heart disease. Foie gras is a super high fat form of animal protein, which is bad enough. But worse is how, in plain English, fatted duck liver is made. Being forced fed strips the agency, autonomy, and self-regulation from the individual – be it the individual duck having corn and fat funneled through a 15 inch tube, or the individual human in Guantanamo who has a tube forced into the nose, through the esophagus and into the stomach. Every day, with every meal, we make a choice as to whether we live a compassionate, conscious life with respect for all creatures of creation or whether we ignore the suffering and death of ducks and humans in order to have a high status taste treat and a high cost Security State. Our fate/karma is of our own making

I get chest pains just thinking about his last meal & the drinks. Was he trying to commit suicide I wonder. Of course compare how Gandolfini died to Oliver Reed's final meal & drinking binge & Gandolfini seems less suicidal by comparison. Either way, booze is effing hard on the heart.

A man who doesn't drink is a man i'll never trust. Fair winds and following seas.
