(Newser) – Nicole Kidman had a run-in, quite literally, with a paparazzo yesterday, when Carl Wu knocked her over with his bike. The freelance photographer was speeding down a New York sidewalk when he ran into Kidman as she walked into the Carlyle Hotel, TMZ reports. The gossip site has the incident on video, and Kidman can be heard saying she wants the guy's name so she can press charges. She called the cops, who didn't arrest him ("an accident's an accident," one says), but did cite him for riding on the sidewalk.

Kidman was knocked to the ground but not injured. TMZ describes Wu as "notorious" and says he's had "run-ins" with other stars, and Vanity Fair points out that in 2010, the Boston Globe reported he allegedly "scuffled" with Lady Gaga's bodyguard in a parking garage. As for Kidman, she showed up at a Fashion Week event last night, and assured ETOnline she's "OK" but, Us reports, a "bit shaken." At the same event, she told E!, "It was awful, but I got back up," and added that the paparazzi can be "terrifying. And luckily I got up but there will be a time when someone does not."

Sweet.... guy riding a bicycle on a SIDEWALK, hits someone, and NY's finest say "an accident's an accident." A car hitting someone in a crosswalk (regardless of who's got the right of way) automatically qualifies for a huge ticket or worse! That it was a notorious paparazzo hitting a celeb is incidental.. stupidity is universal and, in this case, should be criminally negligent.

Umm...if the guy was speeding on a bike and hit her, what exactly does that have to do with paparazzi? It could have been any other person on the bike, and the story would have been exactly the same, but they would have had to trash the misleading headline. All that being said-this is exactly why you aren't supposed to ride bikes on sidewalks. Dont much care for her, but glad to hear she's doing ok. That could have been a much worse scenario
