Coulter Picks Clinton Over McCain

Right-wing icon calls Democratic hopeful 'more conservative'

(Newser) – Conservative shock pundit Ann Coulter endorsed Hillary Clinton over John McCain today, adding to the right-wing furor over McCain's ascent by saying New York's junior senator is “more conservative than he is.” If McCain gets the GOP nod, Coulter says she's not only ready to vote for a Democrat but would even campaign for her, CNN reports.

“I think she would be stronger on the war on terrorism,” the author of How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must) said, stressing her opposition to McCain’s anti-torture position in particular. Slate’s Christopher Beam wonders about Coulter's real aim: to paint distaste for McCain in the starkest possible terms or to injure Clinton’s candidacy with an unwelcome endorsement.
