For a while there, Katherine Heigl looked like she was headed for America's Sweetheart status. Then she made a bunch of bad movies and got a reputation as being difficult to work with ... and now, well, she appears to be headed back to the small screen she left in 2010. NBC has officially picked up the pilot for State of Affairs, a drama set to star Heigl as a "maverick" CIA officer who becomes the president's daily briefer, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which notes the show is "described as Scandal meets The West Wing." Joe Carnahan will write, direct, and executive produce. (More Katherine Heigl stories.)
