(Newser) – The honeymoon was over pretty quickly for at least one half of a couple who flew out of Atlanta bound for Costa Rica: The Delta Air Lines jet was forced to make an emergency landing in the Cayman Islands after the drunken groom started arguing with his bride, reports Reuters. The 33-year-old man "was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, and he is in custody pending further inquiries," a police spokesman tells Cayman27. He may face further charges under international air law. After a brief delay, the flight continued to its destination—with the bride on board.

I went to a wedding once in Filthydelphia. The wedding was downtown and the reception in Valley Forge. On the way to the reception the groom and bride got in a fight in the limo and wouldn't speak toi each other at the reception.

The word "honeymoon" is direct from fall moons when folks had lots of mead (from honey harvested before winter,) got drunk, married and pregnant all in one week. No planes then, so harder to cause international incidents.

One of the shortest weddings ever ! In the OLD days the wedding could probably have been annuled due to failure to consummate - but probably not today ..
