(Newser) – The Israeli government says it has decided to halt peace talks with the Palestinians in response to yesterday's unity agreement between rival Palestinian factions, abruptly ending the nine-month peace initiative brokered by Secretary of State John Kerry. The negotiating period had been set to end next Tuesday, though both sides had been trying to agree to an extension.

Israel's Security Cabinet unanimously decided to cut off contacts after a five-hour meeting today. It announced the decision in a statement sent to journalists. Israel is furious over Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' decision to form a unity government with the rival Hamas movement after a seven-year rift. Israel and the West consider Hamas a terrorist group.

Maybe Hamas has promised not to build houses in the westbank ? Israel has to bring its homegrown lunatics under control before claiming the high moral ground.

Ishmael: A Wild Man "The Torah tells us just before the time that Ishmael is conceived that Hagar's son Ishmael would be a ??? ???, pere adam, a phrase whose syntax literally means a wild one in the form of a man, although it is typically translated simply as wild man. (Genesis 16:12.) The Ramban (Maimonides) interprets ??? ??? in the following way: The correct interpretation is that ??? ??? is a construct form meaning that he will be a wild-ass man accustomed to the wilderness going forth to his work, seeking for food, devouring all and being devoured by all. (Ramban: Commentary on the Torah, Vol 1, Genesis, Charles Chavel trans., Shilo Publishing House, New York, 1971, p 214.) Rabbi Hirsch says that a wildman cannot bear constraint. He who has no constraint, will be contrary to and in everyone's face. We add that constraint here can also be understood as the constraint of reason. Rabbi Hirsch writes "He will quietly take up and maintain his [unreasonable] position in spite of all his brothers. Nobody will be his friend and still nobody will dare to oppose him. (Samson Raphael Hirsch, The Pentateuch, Genesis, Translation and Commentary, Isaac Levy trans., Judaica Press, Ltd, Gatehead 1989, p. 288)"

How ironic it is that the Zionists have displaced families of Palestinians who have lived on this land for tens of centuries. They use as an excuse the fact that they themselves were displaced two millenia ago after having controlled the region for only a few years. Jews are not a pure race, they are an amalgamation of many Middle Eastern peoples. Today, the word "Semite" may be used to refer to any member of any of a number of peoples of ancient Southwestern Asia descent including the Akkadians, Phoenicians, Hebrews (Jews), Arabs, and their descendants. So being anti-Arab is being anti-Semitic. Weird, huh?
