Quite the Mugshot: 5 Craziest Crimes of Week
Nyah-nyah.   (Vermont State Police)

A tube of Chapstick, a bowl of goldfish, and a bag of dog poop factor into the weirdest crime stories of the week:

  • Woman Channels Inner 5-Year-Old for Mugshot: Linda MacDonald of Massachusetts was sent to adult timeout (the Vermont State Police's Brattleboro barracks) after she crashed her car into a fence and was subsequently arrested for drunk driving. The 55-year-old posed for her mugshot with her tongue sticking out. That was after she gave police an unusual explanation for the crash; it involves a legal pad.

  • Man's Car Accident Brings All 17 Girlfriends to His Side: A man in China identified only by the surname Yuan was in a car accident in late March and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. But when staff tried to contact his loved ones, 17 women showed up. Turns out he may have been swindling some of them, and he allegedly pulled a fast one at work, too.
  • Driver Applies Chapstick at Red Light, Gets $200 Ticket: Las Vegas resident Stephanie Fragoso was a little surprised to get a $200 citation for the high crime of applying lip balm at a red light. The trooper who pulled her over as she was leaving the intersection explained that he had to, because she was putting on makeup. Apparently there's a state crackdown on distracted drivers—with one trooper giving an extreme example to highlight why.
  • Would-Be Truck Thief Gets Booby Prize: A Des Moines man woke to find that somebody had broken into his truck and messed with the steering column in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. That failed, but the master criminal still got away with a bag pilfered from the truck's bed. Inside: dog feces. And yes, there's a monetary value attached.
  • Florida Woman Allegedly Bleached Goldfish to Death: A Florida woman was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty over the weekend after allegedly pouring bleach into her boyfriend's fish tank, killing five of his pet goldfish. After the man's son called police, they located Angela Garcia, 32, walking down the street, and the police report alleges her clothes tied her to the crime—which involved more than dead goldfish.
