TV Land Shelves Dukes of Hazzard The General Lee's Confederate flag may be too controversial By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted Jul 1, 2015 6:44 PM CDT 369 comments Comments The 'dukes' rode in a Dodge Charger named General Lee, adorned with a Confederate flag. (Change.org) (Newser) – The controversy over the Confederate flag appears to have caught up with the Dukes of Hazzard. TV Land has stopped airing reruns of the show without explanation, reports Entertainment Weekly. The reason, however, seems clear enough: the Confederate flag atop the dukes' beloved Dodge Charger, the General Lee. Before the decision, Warner Bros. had stopped licensing General Lee merchandise, notes the Wall Street Journal. TV Land is owned by Viacom. Fans of the show, meanwhile, have launched a Change.org petition, complaining of "political correctness" run amok.
