A live news report in Virginia turned to horror this morning when a gunman shot to death a female reporter and a male videographer, reports CBS News. Killed were Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, of the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, WDBJ-TV. Parker was conducting an interview at Bridgewater Plaza, near the resort area of Smith Mountain Lake, when shots rang out. Police are still seeking the gunman or gunmen, and it wasn't clear whether the two were the intended targets. The woman being interviewed, identified as Vicki Gardner, was shot in the back and was in surgery, reports the Roanoke Times. (More Virginia stories.)
