It’s official: Nicolas Cage is not a chihuahua kleptomaniac, former co-star Kathleen Turner admits. Turner settled a libel lawsuit with Cage, confessing that she’d lied when she wrote that Cage had been “arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, for stealing a dog.” Turner and her co-defendants agreed to pay Cage’s legal fees and make a “substantial” donation to charity.

The claims first appeared in Turner’s autobiography Send Yourself Roses and were reprinted in a Daily Mail article entitled “Why I detest Burt Reynolds and Nicolas Cage.” “He’d come across a chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket,” Turner wrote. The two starred together in the 1986 film Peggy Sue Got Married, the Daily Telegraph notes. (More Nicolas Cage stories.)
