Gerald Laird had four hits, homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs Sunday—his first of the season—to power the Texas Rangers over the Los Angeles Angels 10-4. Laird hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning off Jon Garland, then added an RBI single in the seventh and a two-run homer in the ninth.

Ben Broussard hit a two-run homer for Texas, which took two of three in the Angels' home-opening series. Vicente Padilla gave up four runs—three earned—and nine hits in seven innings, allowing solo homers by Garret Anderson and Torii Hunter. Garland allowed seven runs and eight hits in five innings.
