(Newser) – The very first spat between the Trump White House and the media occurred over differing estimates of his Inauguration Day crowd. Well, the National Park Service has released its official photos, along with images from the Obama inaugurations, and the current president may not be thrilled. They "clearly show that the number of people who attended Obama’s inaugurations far outstripped the number of people who attended Trump’s swearing-in," reports BuzzFeed.

The Washington Post highlights in particular side-by-side images from about noon on 2009 and 2017, and it estimates that Obama drew a crowd that day about two-thirds larger. The official images also call into question Trump's assertion that his crowd stretched to the Washington Monument, reports USA Today. The NPS released the photos because of a FOIA request from media outlets.
