The British media is marveling at the resiliency of 53-year-old Simon Smith, and no wonder: CCTV video shows him being smashed by an out-of-control bus in the street, only to get up calmly and walk into a pub. Despite being thrown about 20 feet, Smith somehow suffered only bruises and scratches, reports the Guardian. In the newspaper's video, Smith appears to have entered the pub and sat in its entrance as bystanders rush to check on him. Not surprisingly, a friend tells the BBC that Smith was in a "lot of pain" hours after the crash.

"Thankfully, the pedestrian does not have any major injuries and there were no major injuries to passengers on the bus," says a statement from Reading Buses, per ITV. "The incident is the subject of an ongoing internal investigation as well as an investigation by the police." Meanwhile, the Purple Turtle pub is enjoying online fame, while Smith has pretty much become the embodiment of the phrase "keep calm and carry on," notes a post at Australia's sbs.com.
