Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook status Monday indicated he was "with" his wife, Priscilla Chan—likely taking care of their new baby girl. The Facebook post by the company's founder includes a picture of the new family of four and welcomes little August with a letter that echoes the one written when big sister Max was born—one in which her famous parents shared their hopes for a better world for her to grow up in, with "better education, fewer diseases, stronger communities, and greater equality."
But this new letter takes a different tack. Zuckerberg and Chan tell August that she, along with Max, shouldn't fret too much about the future, because that's a job for grownups. Instead, they implore her to relish her childhood, whether that means reading Dr. Seuss books, riding the carousel with her sister, or enjoying "a lot of naps." "Take time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now," they write. Though August's letter is significantly shorter than the one to Max, it closes with nearly the same line: "We wish you a life of joy, love, and the same hope you give us." Read the full letter here.
